Your Concrete Coating Questions Answered

We believe education builds trust. Below are direct answers to the most common questions homeowners and commercial clients ask about our industrial-grade polyurea and polyaspartic systems.

  • What happens during an on-site evaluation?

An on-site evaluation helps us understand how the space is used and what condition the concrete is in. We review the slab for cracks, pitting, and surface issues, and we may check moisture and hardness when needed to confirm the surface is a fit for coating. You can also review finish options like decorative flakes and traction choices, then we outline prep steps, timing, and pricing so you know what to expect before scheduling.

  • Why is diamond grinding included instead of acid etching?

Diamond grinding mechanically opens and profiles the concrete so the coating system can bond properly. It also helps remove surface contaminants and creates a consistent surface across the slab. Acid etching can be inconsistent depending on the concrete and may not produce a uniform profile, which is why we use Lavina diamond grinding as a standard part of preparation.

  • Can you coat cracked or repaired concrete?

In many cases, yes. Before coating begins, we repair cracks, pits, and damaged areas to create a more uniform base. The goal is to reduce weak points and support adhesion throughout the floor. During the evaluation, we’ll explain what repairs are recommended and how they affect the finished look and long-term performance.

  • What finish options can I choose for color and traction?

Most floors can be finished with decorative vinyl flake blends for color and texture. For areas that stay wet or need extra traction, such as pool decks, steps, and outdoor walkways, we can incorporate slip-aware options like a fine-grit texture in the top coat. We will recommend a finish based on the space, sunlight exposure, and how the area is used day to day.

We can also do solid colors with a tinted top coat. Customers can go to the Sherwin Williams color palette to choose a color and then the Polyaspartic top coat is tinted.

  • When can I walk or park on the coated surface?

Return to use depends on the space and conditions, but many residential projects are completed in one day and allow foot traffic within 24 hours. Driving and items may go back on the surface after 48 hours. We provide clear guidance at the end of the job so you know exactly when the area can go back into normal service.
